River Valley School to Participate in MOCK THREAT TRAINING
River Valley Community,
This message is to inform you that our entire district will be conducting a “Mock” threat scenario on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at River Valley High School. This scenario will simulate an active shooter with law enforcement and fire responding to the High School. This TRAINING will affect the entire district with the Middle and Elementary Schools simulating “lock” down, as we would do for an actual occurrence at any of our buildings.
The High School will be the focal point for this TRAINING of the students, staff and local emergency agencies within the county. All media outlets have been contacted along with surrounding county agencies and school districts to inform them that this is TRAINING. We will have signs posted on the roadways leading up to and adjacent to the High School/Middle School buildings indicating that this is TRAINING. For parents; you will still have access to the Middle School, Heritage and Liberty but there is no access to the High School from 7:50 am-12:00 pm.
We are doing this to better educate everyone on how to react to these types of emergency situations should they ever occur. If you would have any questions in reference to this TRAINING, please contact Steve Ross at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone at (740)725-5808.
Again, please note, THIS IS TRAINING. Thank you.
The River Valley Board of Education and Administration would like to remind parents to please be mindful of what your students post on social media accounts. The district will work closely with the proper authorities if any perceived threats are reported. Please be aware of what your children are posting, tweeting, texting, etc. on social media accounts.
